Jay High School Reviews

The band is amazing and the kids are academically better with balancing school, friends, and family with this elective.

Despite its location in San Antonio, Jay is a very good school academically in its extracurricular activities, especiallly its AFJROTC program. The best in the nation bar none and NOT a military recruiting program, if you want your child to go to college and get the financial assistance you need, then enroll them in Jay's AFJROTC program! Eightyf-five percent of Jay's AFJROTC senors are going to college in 2009--the likes of Michigan, Pitt, Rensselaer, Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor, VMI to name a fe. Great teachers, great students.

My child attended a different high school prior to coming to John Jay where she was in accelerated class and maintaining a A average. When is enter John Jay they put her in regular class and her grades have dropped to A and B.

I learned so much from the teachers at John Jay High. I knew many students that were not as involved in their academic success but it was the teachers and counselors that were always there for those who wanted to pursue higher education. For that I thank them for all their help and inspiration. --Cynthia Trevino

I think that john jay high is a great school. I love it here. Every one here greets you with a friendly smile and teachers know what they are teaching. The atmosphere here is overwelming.

Most of the emphisis in this school is not on academics, athletics, rotc, or spirit organizations, it's on keeping the students in school. There is a high drop-out rate at John Jay High School which makes this the most concern. The students have the potential to be their best, but outside distracts block that potential. Some parents are upset at the staff but there is only so much that they can do involving students outside of the classroom. Currently, I am a sophmore in the Science Academy -- a wonderful academic program here at John Jay, and everyday I see some of my friends drift off into a downward spiral of skipping classes, suspension, alternative, drugs, sex, and preganacy. I still love this school though, because every person, place, and thing have their problems.

This school is a great school. It has changed so much over the many tears this school has been alive.
