Jackson Middle School Reviews

I have had 3 children go through Jackson, and one that just completed 6th grade. I have nothing but good things to say about Jackson, its teachers, coaches and administrators. Jackson may not have the fanciest facilities, but there is no comparison for the quality of education, nurturing and concern that they have received/experienced from all who are involved. I truly appreciate everyone at Jackson Middle School. M. Kilgore

Overall curriculum is challenging, there are a variety of clubs and organizations, the disipline is unreasonable at times, but the teachers care a lot and the principal means well. The councelors are also very helpful.

Teachers work hard to ensure students receive a safe and friendly learning environment. They are sensitive to the individual needs of the student population and are committed to their academic success.

My son has attended 6th and 7th grade, and will complete 8th grade. Jackson has very strong leadership, including administration and teachers. The principal, Mr. DeFosset, allows the teachers to maintain order in their classrooms, and he backs them up to provide them a sense of support. He listens to all, including parents, students, and teachers, and makes unbiased decisions. Academically, Jackson reaches all levels of ability, including Gifted and Talented programs. Jackson has a very strong band program, involving over half the student body. It regularly wins its yearly competitions. Jackson also has orchestra and other arts. Jackson provides for most sports, allowing for all to participate, regardless of ability, via A, B, and C teams. Jackson has strong parent involvement through PTA, and numerous volunteer hours. The PTA invoked uniforms, which has enhanced the no-nonsense attitude about negative behavior. I highly support and recommend Jackson Middle School.

The thing Jackson Middle school doesnt have is parent involvment in student activities, class work,or extracurricular activities. As a student of Jackson this is quite embarassing to say that my school does not participate in alot of competitions for band, orchestra,& theatre arts. Overall I'd have to say that my school lacks parent involvment. The only good thing I have to say is that they have good acedemic programs! Respectfully, Student from jackson
