Kriterion Montessori School Reviews

My daughter has been at Kriterion for two years now and next year our son will also attend. We love the school. The teachers are very encouraging and the environment is great. They really bring out the best in all their students and create in them a desire to learn and to really enjoy it.

We have had our daughter at Kriterion for five years. The environment is great and so are the teachers especiallly Jane Laven. She manages to teach the basics along with instructing every student in playing the recorder and music.

A few years ago, searched the entire city for the 'right' environment for my child.Upon visiting Kriterion and meeting the teachers and administrators,I knew I'd found something unique and special. My child has now been at Kriterion for about 3 years and we couldn't be more thrilled with his progress and love of learning. The classrooms (housed in majestic mansions with plenty of windows and beautiful woodwork), are designed for creating comfort and freedom in learning that traditional schools lack. Years later, and I know we made the right choice!

The curriculum and energy are balanced at Kriterion Montessori. There are enriching activities such as art, music, cultural and language opportunities as well as a strong emphasis on reading and writing. All of the teachers we had contact with were very warm and nurturing. The director is very responsive and proactive in the school with the students, faculty and parents. Students learn to respect who they are and each other; and to be clear in their meaning. My daughter learned how to learn and developed a love of learning. The most difficult part was for me to sit on my hands and let her find her way. Would have liked more field trips, but in retrospect...the students are highly encouraged to open their minds and investigate, not get on a bus and be dazzled.

The faculty at Kriterion are 100% dedicated to the students. They go above and beyond to insure that all students are learning without placing unnecessary pressure on a young child to learn. Not one student is considered to be inept and the staff will determine the best method for each child to find the 'fun' in learning that is lost in the public school system today.
