St. George Episcopal School Reviews

Academic programs are average. Extracurricular programs are above average for a small school. Parental involvement is very active.

My son is in Sr Kindergarten which means he is emotionally and skill ready to participate and do well in school. I have seen a high level of preparation on the part of the administration and the teachers. But above all, the staff has shown the child and the parent lots of love, kindness and patience. What a great beginning.

The lower school does a good job and there are some terrific teachers. The middle school however is another story. I have a child in middle school and I would strongly recommend not attending their middle school. What I have finally come to realize is that the primary goal of St George is not to educate but to succeed as a business. Educating your child is just a secondary goal. As such, the problems you see in any business whose only goal is to make money you will see at St. George even if it's at the expense of the child.

The best attribute of St. George is the inviting and friendly faculty and families. It is a comfortable place for children to really excel in their academics. The small class size is also another attribute of St. George that helps the children to excel. There are too many reasons to name but they have a strong academic program, the proportion of students to teacher is adequate for a well rounded learning experience, and most of all the feeling of being part of a family not just a school.

I really like St. George for my child. This is his first year and is in Jrk so I haven't personally experienced much. What I like about the school is the 'family' feel of the school. The fact that parent involvement is strongly advocated. The school is a very nice place for a young child. However, I have heard that the homework is ridiculous. They overwhelm the children with homework. I do feel that building a strong work ethic and receiving adequate education is very important, but there is a limit. I think that in some way when administration takes this approach you start to wonder is they are trying to compensate for an area lacking in the classroom. Another thing I was extremely disappointed with is the lunch program. It is a pitiful and disgusting menu and expensive.

St. George is an excellent school with tuition rates that are about half of those at comparable private schools in town. The curriculum is heavy on language arts (especially grammar under the Shurley Method). Because of its small size and high retention level, there is very much a family atmosphere.

The school definately has it's cliques. If your kid doesn't fit in, they never will. I am disappointed with the administration lack of response on this issue. They don't seem to see it, yet my daughter cries after school on most days. She didn't start her education at St George, this is her second year here and it has not started any better than last year. It's painful to watch as a parent, but I worry public school would be worse. Academically, I'd say it's average. The campus is in a nice location, but that doesn't educate the children or inspire the staff to address some issues that really need attention.

I took my children out of public school because they education they were getting was limited to the standards of the academics of the lower end. We were very impressed with Saint George in which not only they get an excellent accelarated educational curriculum, the children and challanged to their potential, but also and most importantly they treat our children like part of the family and not so impersonal like public school. The tuition is fair, the staff is very friendly and competent. Highly recommended

St. George is a wonderful school and getting better! My son has been attending school at St. George since Kinder and he is in 3rd grade. Positive and upbeat the whole atmosphere is just wonderful. The spirituality there is unbelievable.

This school is overrated and panders to parents who have lots of money. The teachers and administrators are marginal, unethical, and very unprofessional. This school represents itself as a Christian School, however it is very hyprocritical of what its mission statement tates.

When I attended this school, several years ago now, there was not a better institution for lower education in the city. I worked hard for 8 years and came out ahead of of every state requirement by at least 2 years. I hope it is still as wonderful an institution as it was.

My niece has been at St. George since Jr. Kinder and is now in 6th grade. My only complaint is that there is way too much homework. She sometimes has to stay up past 10pm just to finish and she always starts as soon as she gets home.

This school is definitely for parents who want their children to have a balance between high educational standards and creative learning.

My child has been attending St. George Episcopal since he was 4-years old. We enjoy the cozy family atmosphere as well as the solid education our child receives. We also enjoy the christian feeling on campus. The teachers are terrific and the parents are very involved in all areas of the school activities. The school makes you feel like you are part of a family.

Saint George School offers an accellerated curriculum that complies and surpasses the State Mandated curriculum. In addition, the talented staff and faculty use a 'hands on' approach to learning, including school traditions, daily chapel, and a sense of community. Our only regret is that we didn't discover this wonderful school sooner!

Saint George is the best school I have ever seen. Everyone is nice. The academics are great but the art and music aren't very good.
