St. Luke's Episcopal School Reviews

I'm a graduate of Saint Luke's. I had been attending Saint Luke's since I was in diapers. It took me going to high school to realize how superb Saint Luke's really is. Everyone knows everyone; it truly is like one big family. Even in middle school, there aren't cliques. Every student is always included, and no one ever feels left out. That is very rare in schools these days! The teachers get to know the students extremely well. Every teacher knows the strengths and weaknesses of each student. Daily chapel sets a tone for the rest of the day. Morality is held high, and 'The Saint Luke's Way' is a way of life for every student. I am very sad to not be attending Saint Luke's anymore. However, I have a strong foundation on which to build, and I have Saint Luke's Episcopal School to thank for that. -Elise Anderson ('08)

Amazing School, Amazing Staff. Our family is moving and the worst thing for us is having to take our Son out of St. Lukes. We wish we had discovered this school for PK3. Our Son loves it there and will be very sad to leave.

We have three boys at St Lukes who are each benefiting uniquely from the school. Their teachers know their personal strengths and weaknesses and truly care about the character development and achievement of each boy. The school is challenging but it is not a grind. They enjoy accomplishing at St Lukes.

We pulled our son out of public school after the advent of TAKS in 3rd grade. The middle school cirriculum is tough, but it is 'old school' where you actually learn how to read, write and refine math skills. I'd rather spend the money now to help my child develop long lasting study habits and critical thinking skills. I see too many kids suffering later on in college!

We have been a part of the St. Luke's family for five years now, and can honestly say that we have been very pleased with all aspects of the school.

St. Luke's was an exceptionally positive experience overall for my child. It started out with a very friendly and indepth tour that was not offered through any other schools we visited. The Kindergarten teachers are fantastic! Mrs. 'T' is a superb example of what a teacher in the beginning years of school should be. The quality of the staff overall is, hands down, the best. All of the teachers are friendly, helpful, and well qualified for the positions they hold. The front office is well versed on the children who attend the school and their needs.

SLES has to be hands down one of the best schools in the area. Our son transferred in from public school in the 5th grade and stayed through graduate from their middle school. He and his fellow students have moved on to distinguish themselves in various high schools as super-charged, model students. The administration and teaching staff work together to find your child's passion and develop it. If you have an opportunity to enroll you child here, do it. It will be a cornerstone in their life.

It has a very complete and competitive program. It has lots of extracurricular clases like Spanish, art, music and they encourage all students to participate. The school is very open for parent involvement, they ask you to participate as much as you can which makes you feel comfortable and part of a big family. We are very pleased with this school, we also like that everyone knows you by your name, your child is not just another student but an individual with his or her own personality. Great school.

Our son, began his education at St. Luke's Episcopal School in the first grade and is now in the 7th grade as a part of the new Chris Jones Middle School at St. Luke's. Not only is St. Luke's providing our son the best education in San Antonio, the school is also providing a Christian, nurturing, and challenging environment on a daily basis. The school places an emphasis on excellent academics while focusing on building one's character. This character building process starts at the top with the school administration and is emphasized in the classroom, the daily chapel, the playground, the community service projects, and the sports programs. The Parent Council is very involved and participation is extremely high. I know that my son will be prepared academically for high school and that he has obtained a moral foundation that will prepare him for life's many experiences.

Exceptional school! I have just found your website through the Business Journal and can't miss the opportunity to tell everyone that this is a school where everyone wants their children to be. The facilities are top notch; administration is attentive & responsive; the teachers all hold certifications, most are advanced certifications; and the environment is loving and nurturing. It is obvious that everyone at St. Luke's Episcopal is there for the benefit of its students. The curriculum is rigorous, demanding and rich. There are lots of opportunities to compete both academically and in sports. Family involvement is fabulous. Parents are welcomed on campus. Our son has been there for 6 wonderful years. The school continues to grow and is exceptionally strong. Every parent owes their child this outstanding educational and social opportunity.

We have had children at Saint Lukes for 11 years and have watched it grow from an excellent 2yr-5th grade into a stellar PK3-8th grade. Under the leadership of Shirley Berdicio, head of school,Saint Luke's has maintained it's nurturing spirit while increasing emphasis on rigorous academics. Along with a daily chapel service, the Saint Lukes experience now includes a well-rounded sports program, computer instruction,music,core-knowledge curriculum,Latin and Spanish, and wonderful fine arts offerings. Saint Luke's just graduated its first 8th grade class and the graduates have proven to be well prepared for high school. Many students will enter into honors and GT levels in a variety of subjects at area public high schools. Those graduates choosing to attend private high school, both locally and on the east coast, were accepted into the schools of their choice. My own children have cherished their Saint Luke's days. We feel that the school provided a firm spiritual and academic foundation.

St. Luke's has a very loving environment, however, the academic program is lacking when you look at the extreme costs of sending a child here. You have young children from some of the wealthiest families attending, and yet, low security and below grade level academics. It makes for higher grade averages per grade, which helps the school achieve more financial grants. It does not have the children's education in mind. The admissions office is terrible. This school is the most costly school in San Antonio, yet it has one of the lowest academic programs...this is why we moved our children to other schools.
