St. Peter Prince of Apostles School Reviews

For the 2008 - 2009 school year we switched from St. Peter's to Public School. After having attended St. Peter's for 8 years, our child went into public school for the 6th grade. Were it not for many hours of extra tutoring our child would not have passed the TAKS test. Our child was consistently an AB honor student at St. Peter's and was not up to standard for passing the TAKS test. Which test, the national standardized testing or the TAKS is a more accurate assessment, I'm not sure. But what I do know is that if I'm paying for a private school education, my child should be able to pass a public school assessment. A 6th grader is a grader, no matter what type of school they attend. BUYER BEWARE

We switched from public to St. Peter's two years ago and have enjoyed every aspect. The teachers are very warm and communication with parents is high priority. The school provides numerous opportunities for parents to socialize, provided service, and participate in school activities. We love that the school is completely family oriented while maintaining high test scores and academic achievement. Have your child(ren) try it out for a day, they'll love it too!

Mediocre at best. We have been disappointed on so many different levels. The other reviews coupled with ours speak volumes. The downward trend is painfully obvious. Academics leave a lot to be desired as does the attitude displayed by both teachers & students regarding treatment of one another.

Our school just completed a year long self study and was visited by an Accreditation Team from TCCED. Their report gave us commendations in all seven domains and excellence in areas including our positive community, leadership, academic program and student activities. Once again our spring test scores place our school in the top ten percent in the nation!

The school and the staff are in major need of an overhaul. The principal flaunts the Blue Ribbon status and allows it to cloud her judgment over what really matters...the families who pay tuition to send their children there for a great education. The school nickel and dimes you to death. If its not to volunteer, its to donate, if its not to donate its to sell. In order to maintain enrollment, bullies are not dealt with. The principal lacks in personality and kindheartedness. If you want Blue Ribbon status....there's other schools out there.

The staff at St. Peter's is caring and kind, but the physical facility is outdated and dreadful. The school hits parents up for donations and service hours at every turn, and flaunts its 'blue ribbon' status from several years ago, but when it comes to the arts, technology and educators with advanced degrees, St. Peter's is clearly lacking.

Principal indeed is cold and very unfriendly! Not a good 'christian environment' for our children. Issues with troublemakers not handled very well in the past by the principal!

My son will be graduating this year and he recieved a scholarship to the #1 High School in the city. This school is just fantastic!

Fantastic school! This was my daughter's first year at St. Peter's. I gave my daughter the choice to try out St. Peter's and if she didn't like it she could go back to her old school. She has never asked to go back to her old school and she honestly loves St. Peter's. My son also attends St. Peter's and he walks around the school like its his second home. I am so pleased all around with St. Peter's.

St. Peter is a Blue Ribbon school! My family loves this school. Eventually I will have all 4 of my kids in attendance. The curriculum (follows national standards) is more rigorous than the TEA required one. My daughter began reading in kindergarten and my friend's son is doing algebra in 6th grade. There is a very strong sense of community (families have a required # of service hours each year) and the kids feel a real sense of ownership in the school. With weekly prayer services, the kids are given a strong sense of morality and spirituality. The principal is awesome and is currently revising the curriculum to make it even more progressive.

The academic programs are are lacking in some areas. The teachers are not always helpful to the students. The foreign language selection needs to be improved. Extracurricular activities are available and sports are offered. The availability of music is there but limited. Art is offered and it is a good art program. The level of parent involvement is very high. Parents are always available to help the school in many areas.

Commuication at this school is excellent- for example: This year we are excited about being able to view our son's grads online. The school has a good website that we can look at from work to view the school newsletter. All of the teacher's have voicemail boxes-so we can leave messages.

Our two daughters attend St. Peter's School. We are not Catholic. We choose the school for the academics. We are very pleased with the faculty and staff. When our girls visit their cousins during the holidays there is a big difference in what our girls are doing in their school and what their cousins are doing in their schools. We feel they are being well prepared for the future.

We found schools through your website. Our children are starting at St. Peter's this year. We checked out many of the schools in the area. St. Peter's is the only one that: has Art, Music, and Spanish in the lower grades, the lowest teacher to student ratio, and the nicest staff members we met (we talked to the Technologist and Assistant Principal). We are very excited about the coming school year.

I was upset about the negative comment I read about our school. My husband and I are very pleased with St. Peter's and excited about the new year. This is our 3rd year at this school. When I have told people my child goes to St. Peter's school they are impressed. There are always a few people who leave angry. The very few parents I talked to who left at the end of last year were angry about issues with their child that did not have to do with the school but with their child.

Poor administration, losing all the good teachers. Families are great, but school is in need of an overhaul. New principal turned the school around...the wrong way! She is very cold and unfriendly. If you want an education for your child look somwhere else.

St. Peter's school is a great place for children. The environment is very family oriented. The staff and teachers are the most friendly and helpful. I like the way parent involvement is encouraged in many activities. My children love it here and actually look forward to going to school every morning.
