St. Pius X Catholic School Reviews

I have had my children enrolled at St. Pius for many years. In the past, we have had some problems with administration, parents and with our middle school teachers. This year we have had a complete makeover. We have new administration and we have new middle school teachers, and a great community of parents. The middle school teachers have a positive energy and are doing a fantastic job. I have never seen the children so excited. The changes and the energy I have seen so far this year have been huge. The elementry school is also phenomenal. People care, and are working together. I love the new community feel at St. Pius.

Honest review for families exploring on this site. SPX is not a 1-star school. SPX is not a 5-star school either. Middle school has serious serious problems, teacher turnover is unacceptable and constant. Elementary school has own issues but is better as it has handful of very good teachers. But too many agendas and private decisions driven by church and select people (non-educators). Established teachers have little genuine say, even on new administrator search. Substantial decline in enrollment, most to other private schools. Not due to economy as often implied. Some good families still remain. Ask hard questions, and demand complete and honest answers. SPX has great potential. Word is that legitimate change may be in wind (but that remains to be seen).

My daughter has been at St. Pius for the last six years. She has had the best experiences at this school. She actually looks forward to attending school every day. The teachers are willing to work with the parents to solve issues. I highly recommend this school. The Core Knowledge is incredible.

this school has the worst teachers you can find, and the past 8th class was the best class they could ever go there, but since they are gone this school will go down the drain.

We have had our children at this school for four years now and the elementary program is second to none. We have a great core knowledge curriculum and our teachers are willing to work with parents at every juncture. I highly recommend this school.

St. Pius has everything at its fingertips to make it a great school -- good location, adquate facilities, access to the Core Knowledge Curriculum, parents who are willing to help. Unfortunately, the complete lack of leadership here has resulted in continual teacher turnover, as well as a steady decline in numbers of students enrolled here, which is approximately 280 at this point and will be much less for the 2009/2010 school year. There is far too much focus on the minute issues (i.e. uniforms) rather than the quality of education and no effort or appearance of concern related to student retention.

This school has had a steady decline in the past four years. It is to the point of unacceptability. The middle school has a high teacher turn over rate and bullying is a serious issue. Our children attended for four years and we are now moving to another catholic school. The leadership at this school is extremely lacking!

This school strives to bring out the best in every student. A solid Christian formation program is combined with the Core Knowledge Curriculum to make St. Pius one of the best rivate schools in Bexar County.

I have sent all of my children to St Pius primarily because of the strong focus on faith formation & the wonderful parent community. With the addition of the Core Knowledge program the solid academic program has gotten even stronger. Dedicated teachers & a solid sports program round out this great community school.

St Pius X is a great community---parents care, they support and love children. Teacher sacrifices on behalf of children is a story about heroes. We don't have the facilities public schools have, but the outcomes are the real story. Our children excel in high school, having gained terrific leadership and academic experiences and learn that all they do in life is a result of God's blessings and using the gifts he provided them. If you're looking for a school (3K-8th), please give our principal a call---we love to have you join our family.
