San Antonio Preparatory Academy Reviews

My Daughter is being a student at SAPA since 2004, love the safety and excellent dedication from teachers and staff, I highly recommend the school and give them a 10 rating.

The discipline in the last school was not good. The discipline at SAPA is great. They take care of bullies, problems. I do like the school.

The school has helped my daughter excel in math and science.

Just wanted to thank the teachers and administration. This has been the best year my son has had. He scored so high in the taks. Great one on one teaching. Keep up the good work!

This is one of the finest schools my child has experiened. Love the small classes. Great teacher participation. I receommened it highly.

my sons teacher takes time to call to make sure he is doing OK when he was sick. My son really does like the school.

The teacher's are great. Great job Dr. Logan she has everything under control and doesn't try to run the school.

I had my children enrolled in a McDemermott and transfered them to San Antonio Prep. and I am so glad I did. the classes are small the teacher quality is great and it is a safe enviorment. My daughter who is a 2nd grader is reading like a 4th grader. It is a very good school.

After attending two years, my daughter is now in middle school and is in all honor courses. I attribute her success to her past teachers, inlcuding Ms Bell. SAPA has the best teachers.

The greatest asset that the school has is the quality of teachers. Next the new principal is so much better than the last one. He greats people witha smile, highly educated and qualified. I like the dicipline and the amount of homework. The work is enough but not overwhelming.

I am a studen at UTSA in education. My sons TAKS scores have improved very much. He is well behaved. They have a strict discipline policy which I agree. This school has been a blessing. Some parents try to blame the school for their own failures in the home. The discipline problems in the students begin in the home and they blame it on the school.

The teachers, the adminstration is so giving. What a wonderful educational experience. I love the school.

SAPA is one of the finest schools my children have attended. Their teachers have had concern for thier acadmic progress. My daughter's reading has excelled and my son's math score have shot through the roof. I highly recomend this school for anyone.

I am very satisifed with the high quality of education for my son. He is now reading in Kindergarden! He loves the school and his teacher. I spoke to the principal, Mr Shephard, his response was so good when asking him question. Very open to suggestions. The school gets an A Plus!

I have two children enrolled. Yes, the administration is very caring. The children's teachers call to make sure everything is fine. They enjoy going to school. I had them enrolled in the public school nearby. This school is so much better. I am very happy. The principal took time to explain new dicipline actions. Thank you

I personally worked at the school. I left because of previous administration. Mr. Garcia has the child's best interest at heart. He is a pastor not a teacher. I understand the previous principal is gone. This will be an asset to the school this year. There are some great teachers at SAPA. Parents need to be involved and work together with current leadership in making it the school it CAN be this year. Ms. Evola and Dr. Travis are both highly qualified and able people to assist you. Give the place a chance to grow. With growth there are growing pains. This school Can be a great school. Get involved. Offer to assist with paperwork, bulletin boards, cafeteria duty. It does take a village to raise a child. It is our social responsibility to make our schools a better place to learn. Be open to each other and offer support.

Very poor quality education. My child is going to a NISD school and was told she is lacking some knowledge. Every time I went to the school kids are playing in the hallway and not in classrooms. No real PE program and no athletics as all the other schools have. The leadership is a joke. Many do not or wont speak english. This school is great if you want some babysitting with a bit of education thrown in. But if you want you child to succeed in learning this is not the place. Parent participation is frowned upon with just a few select parents chosen to run the PTO.

Absolutely horrible. This school needs help. After two years, my son is so behind that we are seeking special tutoring for him this summer. The administration is a joke. Don't let them fool you about not having any money, just look up their funding information on TEA's website. It's public.

My son loves this school. He has been a student from day one;4 years.Yes,there may be kinks, but this is a new school, with many ideas,it takes time to fulfill every need. This isn't a school for parents to send their problem children to because public school doesn't want them! A school is not a daycare.I'm very satisfied with the testing procedures, but would like to see more athletic options. In time all this will manifest.I think that the leadership and staff are doing the best they can with what they have.I hate to see someone write that this school would be different with better leadership.

If you care about your children please do not take them there. Although I have to admit that most of the teachers are great. This school would be totally different with better leadership.

We are committed to help your child excel in his strengths and improve in academic areas as needed. We supplement our standard curriculum with digital access to thousands of video clips and other multimedia formats. Our approach to education is both stimulating and scientifically grounded in the latest best practices in education. We follow accelerated approaches for the core areas of math and reading. We are incorporating a strong foreign language component for the 2006-2007 school year; French, Chinese, and Spanish will be made available as an extended day curriculum.

Very organized, teachers are fanitsitic. The principal was very helpful when I was researching. It has free after school with tutoring. I made the right decision in bringing my granddaughter. Keep up the good work!

I rate this school great. The principal has been very nice and explaining the formate. The second grade class is the best in the city. I ask a question and they respond the same day. I have two children that are enrolled. My wife and I are very pleased.

Very poor leadership. Poor organization. No parent participation allowed or sought after. The principal has no communication, organization, or school based skills at all. Although the majority of the teachers are really trying they have no support from the leadership of the school.

There are no extracurricular activities. Parent involvement is strongly discouraged. The classroom teachers are really good, but the principal has been rude to me on several occassions as have other administrative staff. I have seen the children run around and out of the building with no supervision, even though the school is located on a very busy street.

A lot of changes occur in this school constantly and they are not good changes. It seems when they get a qualified person, the lack in leadership chases them off.

very intersting school my daughter enjoyed her time there very much she will return there soon this coming school year we hope your kids can get the education that my daughter has aquired there thanke you for your time.

It is unfortunate that most of the reviews are from the few that are unhappy with the school. Most of the students that began school in 2003 (the first year of the schoo) are still attending and are like a close knit family. Some of the teachers even move up a grade to keep their students together. It is unfortunate that the majority of the parents that love this school are not prevy to this website.

If you want the best for your kids don't take them there. There are so many thing's wrong with that school. There is hardly any supervision, thing's get lost, the administration is a mess. This could be a good school. There is lack of organization and staff. I do not recommend this school!

My two children have been enrolled at SAPA for the current fiscal year. The school has been a disappointment from the beginning. Both of my children have not benefited from after school tutoring-where they were excelling in a public school tuturing program the year before. I have met the principle on one occasion and have had several phone conversations concerning the security and well being of my children. My children receive constant harrassment from other students and the staff on hand seems inadequate for the supervision of children, particularly the after school day care. The principle is looking into my concerns; however, the problems still remain to this day.

What a joke! This school is a waste of tax payers money. The Director would be awesome if he was actually ever there to assist with anything. The principal you ask-don't waste your time. The teachers for the most part are awesome as well as the rest of the staff. The front office is disorganized, unprofessional, and a complete mess. We took our students to another school simply because we wanted our children to have a positive experience in education. If I could not feel a positive environment when I am there for a short time, how could my children feel positive being there all day?

I enrolled my son to this school and he has been doing extrimlly good and staying out of trouble...

We enrolled my son in the acadamy in the Fall of 2003, and we are glad we did. He has made many more friends thanks to the smaller environmet and seems to have a better attitude around his peers. The priciple change was an issue, but a very small one. The transitions were very smooth and both principles left on good terms and still k.i.t. As a parent I reccomend this acadamy to you, the eduacation and environmet are top notch.
