George Gervin Academy Reviews

The teacher to student ratio is wonderful. The staff is organized and considerate to everyone. I'm really impressed with everything they do here!

This school is all about second chances for teens who have made poor choices, and gotten off track. They gave my son an opportunity when no one else would.

I registered my daughter last year and she has made great strides to finish her high school years. We have one more to go and she is proud of her accomplishments. GGA has help salvage my daughters education.

They have helped my son not only catch up his high school credits, but he will graduate a year early! Only complaint is the attendance tracking / notification system.

I have very high praises and regards toward a school who doesn't turn away children and gives them a second change in life to become whatever they choose with a strick understanding that they will not tolerate disrespect and want children to learn to be a better individual in todays society in the next generation of leaders.

Two of my children attended in 2007 to 2008. Elementary children mix and mingle with high schoolers. There was a lot of bullying and name calling. They spent the entire year focused on and teaching to the TAKS test. We do no recommend this school.

I can't continue to give enough praise and thanks to the teachers and staff at George Gervin Academy. I am proud to say that because of the 'Life Lessons' I have learned from various faculty members, I am who I am today. A voting, self supporting, law abiding citizen, as well as a solider in the United States Army. - Sincerly, 'Turtle' Jordan Hilliard

After i removed my son from an overcrowded Wagner H.S. and this school wouldnt accept him after telling us to remove him first from Wagner before they could enroll him - Pretty lame and uncaring

The pro is that I like the small class sizes and everyone seems to know everyone and all the students. The negitave at least to me is the lack of communication between parents and staff.

I have read the statement about the athletes and coaches at the George Gervin Academy. I have attended the games and haven't seen this type of behavior. It appears to me these statements represent a one-sided view. Let me tell the real story. As long as the team was losing and at the bottom of the list in district, the team was being commended for it attitude and good sportsmanship. I have seen players helping others off the floor, shaking hands and commending the other team for good play. As soon as the boy's varsity basketball team became district champs their attitudes are bad. Sounds like jealousy and what the kids would say player hating. What a disgrace from the one who wrote this negative article. Anyone who believes what was said is prepared to buy the Brooklyn bridge for $1.

I have never seen such a poorly disciplined group of athletes as the George Gervin Academy basketball teams, not to mention the coaches as well. I have been embarrassed for the rest of the student body, parents, teachers, and the other schools in the district each time that I have seen them play. They have good athletic ability, but make me sick to watch play and behave the way that they do. i.e continuous taunting, cursing at teammates, opponents, fans, and even officials, and lack of respect for other people, people's belongings, and themselves.
