Description:
Moonlight hike is back on! Our newest assistant organizer Paul will be helping to lead us on the trails at this park. If the meetup is full but you would like to attend, check back a few days before the event. Spots usually open up as people's plans change. According to the lunar calendar, the moon will be full and bright this night. Since the park closes at 11 pm, we will be starting promptly. Don't be late or you will get left behind. SEE BELOW FOR DIRECTIONS. WE ARE NOT MEETING AT THE PARK ENTRANCE. Make sure you wear appropriate footwear - comfy tennies should be fine. Bring water and a flashlight or head lamp. Long pants and insect repellant recommended. We'll have a howling good time. No werewolves allowed! ** Rain cancels this event. ** We will stay on level 1 or 2 wide trails with some slight elevation changes. Nothing too strenuous due to limited visibility. Estimated duration: 1- 2 hours. Unlike daytime hikes, please stay with the group from start to finish - for safety - since we will be hiking in the "dark"! DIRECTIONS: FROM 410: take HWY. 16 (Bandera Rd.) and go north about 4.5 miles. Before you reach the Bandera Rd park entrance, you will turn right on Bresnahan (at the light). Then go up a little way and turn left on Hetherington. (Yes, it's a neighborhood.) At the end of the road is a gated park entrance. Park on the street outside of the entrance (so no worries about getting locked in). Then walk into the park and there is a little gravel area on the right side of the road just inside the gate. We can meet there. FROM 1604: the park is about 1.5 miles south on Bandera (on the left). Go past the park and turn left onto Bresnahan (at the light). Then go up a little way and turn left on Hetherington. (Yes, it's a neighborhood.) At the end of the road is another park entrance. Park on the street outside of the entrance (so no worries about getting locked in). Then walk into the park and there is a little gravel area on the right side of the road just inside the gate. We can meet there. Call if you have problems finding us. Shannon 210-685-0161
